Those Self Assessment Questions...

Guys, here's the self-assessment questions I mentioned today that we can use to examine our lives in regards to our level of self-discipline:

Do I get up at the same time every morning?

Am I overweight?

Do I have any addictions (caffeine, sugar, porn, etc.) right now?

Do I take a day off every week?

Have I taken a vacation in the last year? That wasn’t mixed with work?

Is my email inbox near empty right now?

Is my office and car clean or a mess?

Am I usually on time or late for things?

If I tell someone I’ll call them, do I do it?

Do I spend time with God every day?

Do I have a consistent date night with my spouse?

Do I have a hobby I enjoy consistently?

How often do I exercise?

How much TV do I watch?

What does my appearance say about my level of discipline (hair, clothes, etc.)?

Do I eat right?

Do I have a lot of debt?

Do I ever say: “When things slow down, I’m going to_______”

Did God speak to you today through any of this?

Evolve was awesome. Thank you for posting the self-assessment questions. We started a plant in Missouri almost two years ago now, and this is the first time I came to your conference. It was well worth it. I hope to build relationships with more church planters.

Hey! You forgot "Do I play six hours of video games every night?" I mean, THAT takes discipline and perseverance.

Shawn,
Your session was right along the lines of some things God has been doing in my life since the begining of the year. I have become more disciplined lately but your session reminded me of some more ways I can grow.
I was at a one day conference today at my alma matter, taught by Gordon MacDonald on "the resilient life." Gordon echoed your idea about how our churches will model our health and/or dysfuction. He said that people are watching all the little details of our lives and taking cues on how to shape their life for God. He said that when he left a church, he didn't get many thank-you's for his preaching but for "sitting next to your wife in church" and other little things people noticed.

Wow! Thanks...

woe unto me-for I am undone. pray for me. I suck at discipline.

You guys all knocked it out of the park today...this is my first time at Evolve, and God's already using it to mess me up.

Shawn,
Just wanted to let you know that today was awesome. ABout 2 months ago, God confirmed my call to church planting. I am in the process of praying through location, time frame, etc. Today was a combination of confirmation of God's will, excitement, faith in God's future for me (and a little fear, haha). It was excellent. Thanks for organizing the conference. I'm going to make sure and introduce myself tomorrow.

I wasn't even there and it spoke to me. Thanks for the list of Q's. Also thanks for the comment on my blog over the weekend.
