Here are a few reflections on yesterday's services at Mountain Lake:
- The worship Team led us though what I thought was a very authentic time of worship, led by three different worship leaders: Todd, Jenee, and Brian Isbell. GREAT job, guys! I'm so honored to be your Pastor, and I love leading worship alongside you!
- Week TWO of our SYMBOLS series: I simply loved teaching about Symbol #2, Baptism!
- Most of us have hiccups and hangups regarding baptism, not because we're confused about what the bible teaches, but because of our cultural, family and church backgrounds."
- Showed a hilarious clip from "O Brother, Where Art Thou?".
- I gave more historical background and info about baptism than most people probably even wanted but I really enjoyed teaching this message. Baptism even means more to me, now!
- "Baptism is a symbol of Jesus; but WE are symbols of baptism!" "For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to a new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead." Col. 2:12 (NLT)
- "Baptism symbolizes and event; but also a way of life."
- "This means that Christianity is about much more than getting out spiritual fire insurance!"
- As Christ followers, we need to be asking ourselves two things: Is my old life buried? Am I living the new life Christ created me to live?
- "So when someone gets baptized, we're celebrating three things: 1: Their decision; 2: Our decision! 3: The success of our mission as Christians and as a church!"
- As long as this baptistry stays WET, and people keep going down into it and out of it, we celebrate the fact EVERY TIME that our church as yet to become a Christian Country Club for the Frozen Chosen!"
- "Baptisms are PROOF that a church is being successful in the GREAT COMMISSION!"
- We baptized AFTER the message, and as people came up out of the water, we went nuts! Loved it!
- Another awesome day @mtnlakechurch!
