"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." Psalm 20:7
In Biblical days, horses and chariots were symbols of strength, skill, and power. When God inspired David to pen this song, what David was saying was that the tendency of many of us is to rely on our own skill, strength and abilities rather than relying totally on the power of God in our lives. If we rely on our own talent, skill, logic, reasoning, and even our natural talent too heavily, we are crowding out God's ability to do what only HE can do in our lives! Talents only become spiritual gifts when God is expressing His work in and through us! What does God want to do when we trust in Him? Give us victory! Something horses and chariots can't guarantee...
Gr8.8 reflex:
What are the horses and chariots in my life? What could I be relying on too heavily at the expense of leaning on God?
What are my natural talents and gifts? Could I be relying too much on my own skill and ability solve life's problems?
Prayer: "LORD, help me to put my trust in You, lean on you, and look to you for the source of victory in my life."
