Lately, God has been speaking to me A TON about how we can invest BETTER into the lives of our volunteers here at Mountain Lake. I really do want the qualities of their lives, their families, and their spiritual journeys to be be better because they serve at Mountain Lake! Recently, I ran across a book called Three Signs of a Miserable Job. In the book, Patrick Lencioni differentiates between a BAD job and a MISERABLE job. ANY JOB can be a miserable job if these three signs are present:
- Employees feel Irrelevant.
- Employees feel Anonymous.
- Employees can't Measure Success
When I began to read this book, I could not HELP but begin to think about our volunteers at Mountain Lake! They all do such an amazing job serving God here! The last thing I want is for our volunteers to be miserable! I don't want our theme for volunteering at Mountain Lake to be: "Suffering for Jesus!" I want it to be: "We have a blast here!" "we make a difference here!" The last thing I can allow to happen, is getting them "connected" to volunteerism, and then move on!
So more and more these days, we're working on that. Today, all of our Pastors begin working through this book TOGETHER and working harder to love the church that God has given us!
Shawn,
Great pick!

Shawn--
As a volunteer, I can honestly say, I have NEVER felt ingored or unappreciated! Everytime I voluteer, someone tells me thank you...Usually more than 1 person!!! I want to thank you for giving me a place that I can serve God and know that what I do is important and, often,is making a difference in not only my life, but other peoples lives, as well! Thanks for a great place to call home!
